Ichnetucknee State Park, 2018
Julie’s paddleboarding obsession started in 2010 when she moved back to Florida after spending two years in upstate New York. A friend brought a 12 foot SUP to the beach and showed her the basics & the rest is history: Julie’s first major purchase after getting back on her feet was a 12 foot SUP ATX, then a 11’2 C4 Waterman and a 10’6 synergy. From there Julie started teaching lessons and leading tours out of Blueline Surf, attended Yoga Teacher Training, as well as a couple SUP Yoga teacher trainings and began teaching Yoga on Water out of Blueline and SUP Yoga out of Paddleboarding Palm Beach in 2013. Julie was briefly sponsored by Mistral and Bru Surf before acquiring her 14” Boga Tsunami. In 2016, Julie took the ACA level 1 SUP instructor course and continues to teach, lead tours and give lessons out of Blueline Surf and Paddle. She now rides a 14x25’ Freeglide from local manufacturer Flying Fish Board Company.
Julie is deeply involved in the epic paddleboard event the Crossing For Cystic Fibrosis.
In 2018, she made her first attempt to cross the Gulf Stream, paddling a 26”x14’ custom painted Boga Tsunami. She raised over $5,000 with her 65 Roses Art Project.
In 2019, she joined Team Green Tara Yoga, a SUP paddling group of four solo women, paddling 14 foot Flying Fish Freedom and Freeglides, attempting the epic trip again. Team Green Tara Yoga raised almost $14,000 with the help of their virtual paddlers!
In 2020, Julie will be making her 3rd attempt at the Crossing as a solo rec paddler. Click here to donate to Julie’s Campaign!
